Of my almost finished attempt to actually fully detail this car.
Started with a kitchen soap to get rid of the wax and anything else, then a regular wash with Meguiar’s Gold Class car soap, the wheels and tires got a cleaning too. After drying, I tried using a clay bar for the first time, and the results were stunning; the paint is so smooth!!
Now, when the “after” pic was taken, I was only able to start polishing the front bumper, hood, fenders, and part of the hood, but wow.
I never realized it was this easy to get a car looking spify! I could have saved myself $250 back in April, but the only caveat is that this is pretty damn time consuming. I had to go to work before I could finish. 3 hours in and I have from the doors to the back of the car to finish polishing then wax. ^_^
It should take me at least an hour to finish after work.

Looks fantastic! Doesn’t look 25 years old at all. If you showed this to a non-enthusiast they would probably think it was a brand new car.

It’s amazing after a full detail right? Once I clay barred and waxed my car I couldn’t keep myself from just sliding my finger on the paint. It felt so smooth and looked so clean.
The 944 is looking good!

It’s actually 31. :D

I’m not even done! 30 more minutes until I can finally go home and finish! And it’s cloudy and cool out, perfect finishing weather!!
Not gonna lie, I touched every single panel after I clay barred each panel. :p

Even more to the point.

Looks great! I usually do this in the garage on Sunday with a 6pack. Just chilling on a short wheeled stool.

If I didn’t work Sundays, this is what I’d be doing.

Woo that is shiny! What are you using to polish it?

I wish my car wasn't so scratched and dented so I could try to make it look nice. Just polishing a turd at this point. Yours is a beaut!

You’re quite welcome.
What do you mean you saw the car?

I need to wash and detail mine for sale.

I loath detailing.

The clay bar kicks ass. I remember the first time I clayed a car, it was like a whole new world.
It’s really satisfying on a white car, you can see it go from dingy gray to actual white.

SALE?? (O_O)

It’s a soft “For sale.” I honestly need something that is better suited towards sitting in traffic, as sad as that is to say

Gives me the urge to detail my Land Rover and FoST now.
Please explain what “clay barring” is. I have waxed and buffed many cars in my younger days but never heard of clay barring a car.

But I sit in traffic in mine quite frequently. Don't tell me you need an automatic. :p

It's a bar of actual clay that you use in conjunction with a quick detail spray as lubricant and exfoliate the paint of any dirt and such that a regular wash didn't take off. It really gives the paint a smooth touch much like wax, but better.

Not, not an auto, I need AC.

Interesting. I have been thinking about repainting my Disco. Her hair is thinning and my buddy who helped me lift her painted his own Chevelle (the one I posted about being not talented enough to drive) and it looks incredible.

Clay bar doesn’t take off any paint from my little experience, so you should be fine there. :)
